fridays are always such a great day. you know that the weekend is here. just makes me so happy. this morning i picked up my friends Dwayne & Robin and their amazing kids Taylor & Todd. they just finished a two week trip to New Zealand and they loved it. they kindly loaned me their car while they were away, such a blessing.
i also took my 5th & 6th grade cooking class to Safeway today. i am so excited about these classes! i should back up a little and explain. one of our responsibilities on campus is to have an Ohana Contribution. these are areas where we joyfully serve in another department. i am SUPER blessed to be able to teach cooking to a group of 5th & 6th graders and 7th & 8th graders. i have four students in each group, for an eight week course. i started us off by learning how to select a recipe. their first week of homework was to choose a recipe in the following categories: Main Dish, Side Dish, Salad, and Dessert. they each presented their recipes the following week in class. then we all voted on which recipe we would make as a class. it was so much fun to see what they chose and why. then they learned how to take a recipe and make it into a shopping list. this week we went to the grocery store and learned how to select items that fit into our budget and to establish a budget. it was fun to help them figure out when a generic is a great option to save some money, and when it may be worth it to spend a little more on a brand name product. THESE STUDENTS ARE SO SMART!! they caught on so quickly. i think i have a few future chefs on my hands. this makes my heart so happy! next week we start cookin' things!
our A&E prayer set today was incredible. christ, one of our speakers this week on campus, came and shared his heart with us. he brought a word about not comparing yourself to others. he shared his own personal testimony about not praying on the mic cuz he was comparing himself to other leaders in the organization he worked with for years. it was such a great word to us. he also went on to say that we cant be affected by people saying we did a good job or their lack of words meaning that maybe we didn't do such a great job. we need to rest in knowing what God says about us and knowing how pleased He is with what we do for Him. it was one of those types of words that can shape a life. a deep, deep truth that once grasped, changes how we look at everything. after chris spoke, my friend david gave us an update on his trip to Los Angeles last week. (we prayed for him and his team a couple weeks ago before he left) it was great to hear about how GVS (Global Virtual Studio) was so well rec'd. this technology is gonna be industry transforming! david shared about some of his new projects. we all got so excited and hopeful they will get funded and become the amazing films we all know they can be. that is all i can share for now, as things come together, i will share more.
i had the most fun filled evening taking the madi, kenna & liam to see Tooth Fairy tonite. mom & dad were on a date. baths, jammies & tunies...and america's funniest home videos. now jude and i are gonna make some cupcakes for kenna's birthday party tomorrow.
nighty nite.
